FAQs

Coaching is a very broad term and it involves many techniques and methodologies making it hard to define and sometimes difficult to understand. Here we have tried to explain some of the underlying processes for you.

What is Coaching?

Coaching in most cases begins with an aspiration or goal that an individual or company want to achieve. High achievers and talented people use coaches to achieve and create their ideal life. Most people use a coach to help:

  • Set and reach goals
  • Stay focused
  • Attain their personal best
  • Accomplish more through support and training

As your coach I will:

  • Encourage you to set and achieve goals important to you - even goals you may have thought unattainable
  • Focus you to produce better and faster results
  • Encourage you to do more than you would do on your own to attain your personal best
  • Provide you with support, tools and structure to accomplish more

Coaching is popular because it's not therapy and gets you results when you are stuck in any area of your life/professionally.

NLP Coaching versus Therapy

NLP Coaching

  • Working with Clients
  • The client always has control over his/her life and is responsible to achieve the outcomes with the assistance of a coach to align values and beliefs with behaviour.
  • Focus on outcomes and remembering that a person is capable of achieving anything by using the right life strategies
  • Defines an equal partnership (Client is offered to find their own solutions through techniques and encouragement from the Coach)

Therapy

  • Working with Patients
  • Doctor targets a diagnosis for the patient and then puts forth their training in diagnosis and treatment of disease and then offers a long term path to healing
  • Focuses on the patient being broken, and somehow needs to be fixed
  • Coaching is Not:

Coaching is not therapy, counselling or psychology, which deal with past events and how they relate to your thoughts and feelings in the present. Coaching focuses on the present and future and is oriented towards the client setting goals so as to move forward.

Coaching does share some principles with counselling, although it is not suitable for people with psychological or medical conditions, addictions or as a route to dealing with deep-seated trauma, although it may be appropriate as a tool later in the healing process.

    Who Works with a Coach?

People just like you, of all ages and walks of life find coaching beneficial. Professionals, business owners, parents, youth, men, women, entrepreneurs and people who desire change are some of the people who work with a coach. I typically work with people especially women who are tired, stressed and overwhelmed with all they must get done in their personal or professional life. Coaching enables you to gain balance, fulfilment, happiness and the success you deserve. Regardless of your profession or personal circumstances all my clients are successful, resourceful and intelligent individuals that are aiming to get more out of life.

How I Coach and What to Expect from Me as Your Coach

I mainly coach face to face at premises or location to suit. Alternatively I do offer coaching via the telephone or email allowing for the fact that traveling to an appointment in itself can start to feel like added stress.

As your coach my focus and commitment will be completely on you and what you want: you are just as important as the goals you set.

I will encourage, challenge, question, make requests, actively listen and give feedback to help you stay focused in regard to your goals and vision for your ideal life.

    I Am Honest and Direct

When I hear a strange tone in your voice or notice something different, I will ask you about it, often these are the moments that offer the opportunity to resolve something. If I am not sure I will say so.

I Will Give My Best and Expect Your Best

We should only be working together if you are ready to do your best and be your best. If you are not doing your best, I will ask you to do so. If you cannot at the present time I ask you to inform me so that we can work out the best course of action for that session.

I Will Make Requests of You

At times I will make a specific request of you to help you move forward. Such as "will you do X by next week?" You may adjust my request with "No, but I can do it within a fortnight (month etc.)" or "No, but I can do Y by next week".

Rarely do clients need to decline a request if they realise it's open to negotiation.

I Will Set Tasks or Groundwork (Yes, You Have to do the Work!)

At each session you will be asked to commit to do some type of task or activity. It will relate to you reaching your goals. Typically you decide the actions you wish to take and I support you and hold you accountable to carrying out those actions.

I Will Give Information and May Share my Ideas, Views and Beliefs

I am happy to share my experiences, feelings, beliefs and the knowledge I have if you feel open to the idea and the situation is relevant and ethical. I will not force my beliefs or values on you and will always respect you as an individual who has personal beliefs, views and opinions.

    I Am Here for You

Coaching is a partnership and as your partner I want to share your highs and lows. Please let me know if at any time you feel my service is not up to your required standard or you wish something to be changed.
